Our commitment to sustainability

Growing societal impact globally
Annual Report with integrated Sustainability Report and Sustainability Impact 2025

Healthcare is at a pivotal moment. Global life expectancy continues to rise, even as non-communicable diseases become more prevalent and climate impact worsens people’s health. Healthcare systems, already under pressure from workforce shortages and financial constraints, must deliver more with less while keeping pace with rapid medical advancements and broadening access, especially to those who are underserved.

As a leading medtech company, we believe we are well positioned to solve these challenges by leveraging our unique strengths, comprehensive portfolio, and broad and deep presence in the healthcare ecosystem. Sustainability is embedded in our purpose and our sustainability strategy. It addresses key needs of the stakeholders we serve — patients, customers, investors, employees, and society. We commit to improving healthcare access for everyone, everywhere, preserving our planet’s resources, and developing a diverse and engaged workforce that creates tangible impact internally as well as in the communities we serve. Across all our key initiatives, we actively engage with stakeholders — especially global and regional partners, customers and investors — to amplify our impact and drive long-term value creation.

Our commitments

Improving healthcare access for all

We are tackling the greatest challenges in healthcare today: fighting the most threatening diseases, accelerating diagnoses and effective outcomes, increasing access to affordable healthcare, and addressing capacity and capability gaps in the healthcare workforce. By embedding Healthcare Access in our strategy and business priorities, we are expanding patient impact and fulfilling our purpose: We pioneer breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably. To address the gaps in the qualified workforce, we provide education and training to healthcare professionals, empowering them to deliver high-quality care even in remote settings.

Preserving our planet’s resources

We see environmental sustainability in healthcare as a major imperative today, because human health is inextricably linked to the health of the planet. This is why we embrace our responsibility to reduce environmental impact in collaboration with our suppliers and customers. Our priorities are anchored in the Resource Preservation pillar: We commit to achieving Net Zero by 2050 and we embrace a Sustainable by Design approach to reduce the environmental impact of our products across their life cycle.

Our near- and long-term emissions reduction targets, which aim for Net Zero by 2050, are officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This confirms that they are aligned with the 1.5°C pathway as outlined in the Paris Agreement.

Our impact today

Sustainability is about our impact today and tomorrow as we work toward a better future for people and planet. We embrace the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and channel our contributions into goals that align with our core business priorities. This way, we drive sustainability and business outcomes together. Discover how we do this through the examples below.

We are expanding patient impact with our technologies and solutions, aiming to democratize healthcare for patients everywhere. Healthcare Access also requires us to help ease the burden on healthcare professionals and support workforce skilling. Our education and training services promote learning and capacity building.

We commit to actively driving decarbonization and preserving resources across the value chain. We also promote reducing, reusing, and recycling primary materials, minimizing waste and rethinking our processes along the value chain together with our customers and suppliers.

Our power as a company is in our workforce: Our approximately 74,000 diverse and engaged Healthineers are united to solve healthcare challenges today and in the future. In bringing together a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, we enrich our collective knowledge, become more innovative, and grow more economically resilient.

Our targets for tomorrow

Partnering to accelerate impact across our sustainability pillars

No organization can solve healthcare and ecological challenges alone. This is why we align our vision and work with global and regional partners who amplify our sustainability impact. Partners bring mutually complementary capabilities and work with us to address resource and infrastructural needs as we strengthen healthcare systems.

For instance, we partnered with City Cancer Challenge to expand access to timely cancer diagnosis and strengthen local health systems. Nearly 200,000 women in Cali, Colombia, have benefited from initiatives that emerged from this partnership. As a result, 73% of women with suspected breast cancer were able to access biopsies as of October 2024. In 2025, new breast cancer programs were also launched in Kumasi, Ghana, and Tbilisi, Georgia.

Our Healthineers Volunteering Program enables our approximately 74,000 Healthineers to contribute across our sustainability commitments. They work on improving healthcare access for all, preserving resources for the planet, and building diverse and inclusive communities.

At Siemens Healthineers, volunteering reflects our values of empathy, inclusion and expanding access to care. With over 46,000 hours of service contributed globally in the past two years, our volunteers demonstrate how we turn purpose into action.
