Siemens Healthineers has received official approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near- and long-term emissions reduction targets. This validation confirms that the company’s Net Zero targets are aligned with the SBTi Net-Zero Standard and aim to limit global warming to 1.5°C according to the Paris Agreement of 2015.
The targets aim for a 90% absolute reduction in emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, demonstrating the company's determination to minimize its climate impact across the entire value chain. From the Net Zero target year onward, any remaining emissions will be permanently neutralized in line with SBTi criteria.
The validation by SBTi marks a significant step in the company’s climate strategy – reinforcing that the emissions reductions targets meet the highest standards of scientific integrity and transparency.
“Receiving SBTi validation for our Net Zero targets confirms that we are on a science-aligned path to addressing climate change through meaningful action. As a medtech company, we are committed to creating impact for patients and health systems worldwide — so this milestone positions us to drive even greater progress with customers and suppliers toward a sustainable, resilient future for all,” said Darleen Caron, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Member of the Managing Board of Siemens Healthineers.
