Siemens Healthineers equips UKE's new University Heart and Vascular Center with state-of-the-art medical technology

• Medical imaging technology for intervention suites (cardiac catheterization laboratories), hybrid laboratories as well as hybrid operating rooms and the Cardiovascular Imaging Center

Siemens Healthineers installed state-of-the-art medical imaging technology for the recently opened Heart and Vascular Center at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). In addition to the 13 angiography systems for all cardiology and surgical specialist groups, the scope of supply included a photon-counting computed tomography scanner, a high-end 3-Tesla magnetic resonance tomograph and an X-ray imaging station. Siemens Healthineers will use it to equip all intervention suites (cardiac catheterization laboratories), hybrid rooms and the Cardiovascular Imaging Center. The focus is on the combination of medical expertise and state-of-the-art imaging technology. Thanks to the innovative equipment, procedures can be carried out even more precisely, gently and efficiently. At the same time, patients benefit from shorter examination times, improved treatment decisions and an overall higher quality of care. Building on this, a long-term strategic research partnership is to be established with the UKE that addresses joint fields of innovation and clinical research projects in cardiology, radiology and data-driven medicine. 

The new building for the existing University Heart and Vascular Center offers space for 379 beds, nine operating theatres, three of which are hybrid operating theatres, ten cardiac catheterisation laboratories and a cardiovascular imaging centre with CT, MRI and X-rays. The new building offers excellent conditions for top-class university medicine. In the future, adults and children will benefit from this in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
