Held in Barcelona, Spain, the EANM 38th annual congress provided a rich platform that fostered international innovation, collaboration, and networking opportunities.

Located in Spain’s Catalonia region, the Barcelona International Convention Centre hosted international nuclear medicine experts and students at this year’s annual congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM). With 9,431 participants (online and in-person) and almost 3,000 submitted abstracts, records were set for EANM’s 38th congress held October 4 through 8, 2025. This year’s annual congress, which coincided with the association’s 40th anniversary, was larger than ever before.1

The congress commenced on Saturday with an engaging opening ceremony and welcome reception, setting a positive tone for the days ahead. Each day featured plenary sessions that delved into critical topics such as theranostics, the considerations for referring patients to nuclear medicine, and dynamic debates covering topics such as theranostics, artificial intelligence, and the evolving role of nuclear medicine as a specialty. The congress also continued its commitment to young professionals. The vibrant Young Professionals Lounge provided an energetic space for networking and professional exchange.

This year’s event saw participation from 187 exhibitors, reflecting an increase from the previous year and underscoring the growing interest in the field.
