New UK production site for MRI cooling technology

A new Oxfordshire facility, opening next year, is the UK’s first major production site for new, sustainable DryCool technology.  This novel technology significantly minimises the use of helium required in an MRI scanner.  

The site will be operationally carbon-neutral and will provide environmental benefits to the local economy.

Sustainable MRI in Radiation Therapy

The MAGNETOM Flow RT Pro Edition enables Sustainable Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Radiation Therapy, with a range of operational and clinical benefits.  

The new system is helium-independent and does not require a quench pipe, which means it can be easily installed close to linear accelerators. This saves time and makes MRI workflows in radiation therapy easier.

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust 

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust saved over £1 million on energy costs in one year through investment in sustainable measures.  

The Varian Halcyon with a linear accelerator contributed to boosting patient treatments by 20% monthly while reducing power consumption by 70% - in addition to providing a better overall patient experience.

The CSRD report was prepared in accordance with the regulatory framework of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
