East of England Imaging Academy partnership

With investment from NHSE WTE, The East of England Imaging Academy is working in partnership with Siemens Healthineers and NNUH to address workforce challenges, including the development of bespoke cross-sectional MR development training.

As a result of a successful pilot programme, a funded opportunity is available for radiographers in the East of England region to undertake the SHAPE: Intensive Learning Module in both CT & MRI; MRI programme details below:

The course has CPD accreditation from Siemens Healthineers and the East of England Imaging Academy. Further CPD accreditation is being sought from the Society and College of radiographers (SCoR).

This unique and intensive study programme is designed for radiographers new to imaging or looking to advance their career. It can give expedited access to cross-sectional radiography training for students, newly qualified radiographers or even radiographers in need of more in-depth training.

This unique and intensive study programme is designed for radiographers new to imaging, or looking to advance their career. It can give expedited access to cross-sectional radiography training for students, newly qualified radiographers and radiographers in need of more in-depth training. Delivered over a period of three months, the programme provides learners with:

  • An overview of the basic principles of MRI
  • In-depth understanding of the modality
  • Understanding of the clinical application of parameter changes on image quality and time
  • Practical scanning experience using a simulator for routine MR
  • An overview of MRI physics
  • The soft skills needed to work as a team in a high-pressure environment
  • A face-to-face teaching session with a Consultant Radiologist at the East of England Imaging Academy, providing an overview of MRI anatomy and pathology, including important considerations to be aware of as a radiographer, and when to flag important findings to a senior colleague.
