Privacy Notice for the Stroke Connect mobile App

Stroke Connect mobile is provided by Siemens Healthineers and is operated and hosted by the Controller who has granted you access to Stroke Connect mobile. Siemens Healthineers is committed to protecting and respecting the privacy of your personal data. This privacy notice explains how Siemens Healthineers processes your personal data on behalf of the Controller who provided you with access to Stroke Connect mobile in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
You can access this privacy notice at any time from the link labeled “Privacy” on the login screen of Stroke Connect mobile as well as in the App Store

Siemens Healthineers AG, Siemensstr. 3, 91301 Forchheim, Germany (“Siemens Healthineers”) will process your personal data as the processor on behalf of the Controller who provided you with access to Stroke Connect mobile in accordance with this Privacy notice when you use this Stroke Connect mobile.


The Controller who provided you with access to Stroke Connect mobile instructed Siemens Healthineers to process the following categories of personal data about you:

  • Contact, account, and other personal data such as
    • Name, email address, physical address, phone number.
    • Job information, e.g., job title, work location
  • Identifiers and device data such as your account ID or other device-ID, IP-address, MAC-address
  • User content such as
    • Your content as a user, images, videos, audio data during the active connection with a remote participant
    • Customer support data, meaning data you generate during a customer support request.
    • Other user-generated content: case record data inserted or modified during the use of Stroke Connect mobile e.g., Checklists, NIHS-Scale
  • Usage data such as
    • Stroke Connect mobile interactions, e.g., Stroke Connect mobile launches, taps, clicks, scrolling information other information about how you interact with Stroke Connect mobile.
    • billing data for the usage of the video conference (e.g. time per call)
    • Other Usage Data about user activity in Stroke Connect mobile: audit trail for interactions with the case record.
  • Diagnostic data such as
    • Crash Data, e.g., crash logs.
    • Performance data, e.g., launch time, hang rate, or energy use.

We may request access or permission to certain features of your device, including your device’s camera, microphone, sensors (e.g. Touch ID or Face ID). If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device’s settings. If you do not grant certain individual permissions some functions of Stroke Connect mobile may not be available to you. We will inform you about this in the respective request.

Some of the personal data that we process can be provided on a voluntary basis (marked as such) but please note that if you choose not to provide your data, you may not be able to use some of the functionalities of Stroke Connect mobile and we may not be able to provide you with all our products or services or respond to requests you may have.

When you download Stroke Connect mobile onto your device, some data will automatically be transferred to the App Store. This may include your username, account number, payment information, the time of the download and your device-ID. The processing of this data is carried out by the App Store. Siemens Healthineers has no influence on this data processing.

Siemens Healthineers processes your personal data on behalf of the Controller who provided you with access to this Stroke Connect mobile. Please contact the Controller who provided you with access to Stroke Connect mobile for detailed explanation of purposes and legal basis for this Stroke Connect mobile. Siemens Healthineers as processor uses your Personal Data for the following purposes on behalf and instructions of the Controller who provided you with access to the Stroke Connect mobile app:

  • Stroke Connect mobile Functionality, meaning:
    • Maintenance and 3rd level support
    • Other purposes, such as contacting you regarding technical or legal notices, updates, security messages.
  • Compliance with the law, meaning Siemens Healthineers processes your personal data to comply with a legal obligation that we are subject to.


Siemens Healthineers may share your personal data with the following recipients, if and to the extent such transfer is necessary:

  • Siemens Healthineers group companies which process personal data in connection with your use of Stroke Connect mobile as described in this Privacy Notice or to support in fulfilling our contractual or legal obligations or internal and administrative functions such as customer service. We consider it to be in our legitimate interest to share personal data for these purposes within our group of companies and determined that, after a balancing of interests, our legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights and interests (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR).
  • Recipients such as business partners or (IT-) service providers which process personal data as part of their service provision for Siemens Healthineers (e.g., hosting or IT maintenance, ad services). These recipients have been carefully selected as processors within the scope of Art. 28 GDPR and are contractually obligated to process personal data in accordance with our instructions.
  • Third parties (e.g., courts, law enforcement authorities and regulators, attorneys and consultants) in connection with complying with legal obligations (Art. 6 (1) lit. c GDPR) or establishing, exercising, and defending rights or claims (e.g., regarding the unlawful use of Stroke Connect mobile or our terms of use) and in relation to corporate transactions, where we consider the transfer in our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR).

Sometimes these recipients to whom Siemens Healthineers transfers personal data are in a country in which applicable laws do not provide the same level of data protection as the GDPR. In such cases and unless permitted otherwise by applicable law, Siemens Healthineers only transfers EU personal data if appropriate and suitable safeguards for the protection of personal data are implemented, in particular, if the recipient entered into the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for the transfer of personal data to third countries with us or if the recipient has introduced approved Binding Corporate Rules in its organization.

The Controller who provided you with access to Stroke Connect mobile will store your Personal Data in accordance with their Privacy Policy. Please contact the Controller who provided you with access to Stroke Connect mobile for detailed explanation on the storage duration of your Personal Data. Please note that merely uninstalling Stroke Connect mobile from your device does not automatically delete your personal data from Stroke Connect mobile database.

To protect your personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, use, or alteration and against unauthorized disclosure or access, Siemens Healthineers uses reasonable physical, technical, and organizational security measures.

Under the GDPR, you have specific rights in relation to your personal data. In particular, and subject to the statutory requirements, you may be entitled to:

  • obtain confirmation as to whether the Controller processes personal data about you and, where that is the case, obtain access to your personal data processed by Siemens Healthineers as well as other information,
  • obtain the rectification of your inaccurate personal data processed by the Controller,
  • obtain from the Controller the erasure of your personal data processed by the Controller,
  • obtain from the Controller restriction of processing of your personal data,
  • obtain a copy of your personal information that you have provided to the Controller or request that your personal information be transmitted to another recipient,
  • object on grounds relating to your particular situation to the processing of your personal data by the Controller as far as the processing of your personal data is based on legitimate interests.

It may become necessary to change this privacy notice, for example due to the further development of our Stroke Connect mobile or due to changed legal or regulatory requirements.
