For decades, women suffering from endometriosis were told their pain was normal. Many endured years of misunderstanding before finally receiving a diagnosis. And when they did, treatment often meant major surgery and visible scars.
Today, interventional MRI is opening a new chapter. With superior soft tissue contrast, no exposure to ionizing radiation, and real time visualization, MRI can enable physicians to see more, understand more, and treat with greater precision. Instead of large surgical procedures, minimally invasive MR guided interventions such as cryoablation can potentially target endometriosis lesions directly, often using just one or two needles.
Watch Prof. Afshin Gangi from University Hospital Strasbourg share why the field of interventional MRI is only beginning to reveal the possibilities ahead.
