From Classroom to Patient Care: Addressing Workforce Shortages & Building Talent Pipelines with MUSC

Health systems across the country are facing sustained staffing shortages that impact patient access, exam turnaround times, and operational efficiency. Through the lens of diagnostic imaging and nursing, this session explores how apprenticeship programs can serve as a practical, scalable approach to building a stronger workforce. 

Through a moderated discussion between health system and industry perspectives, attendees will learn how MUSC Health has partnered with the South Carolina technical college system to implement a first-of-its-kind radiologic technologist apprenticeship program and pave the way for future pathway programs for nursing and other healthcare professions. The session will highlight how combining classroom education with paid clinical experience can accelerate workforce entry, reduce talent bottlenecks, and create long-term career pathways.
