  • Patient-centric technologies and workflows optimally adapt to each type of patient
  • Innovative technologies help improve patient experience, standardize examinations, and thus deliver more precise diagnostics
  • Mobile workflow feature via tablet eases system operation and increases patient comfort

KGS Advanced MRI and CT Scans, Madurai is the first healthcare facility in India to install the new Somatom go.Top CT scanner from Siemens Healthineers. The new 128-slice scanner expands the Somatom go. CT platform’s concept of patient-centric mobile workflow – which is controlled via tablet and remote – into advanced clinical fields and applications, including cardiology, CT-guided intervention and dual-energy spectral imaging

With a rotation time of 0.33 seconds and the exclusive Stellar detector technology, the system can perform whole-body scans of up to 200 centimeters with a scan speed of up to 175 millimeters per second. This means that users can deploy the Somatom go. platform's mobile workflow in advanced clinical fields such as emergency medicine, interventional radiology and even cardiology. The system can deliver new levels of radiation dose personalization due to its high power and low kV scanning mode, along with automated tools that take the guesswork out of low-dose CT imaging.

The scanner can be handled via a tablet that can be used to control all routine and advanced examinations including interventions. Radiology technologists can thus stay close to their patients during the entire scan preparation process, which makes the experience much more pleasant for the patients, especially if they are children. The standardized work steps are designed so that users can run the scan with just a few inputs. Automated post-processing makes it even easier to operate the scanner. This means that even staff with a lower level of training can carry out the examinations. This standardization also gives radiologists additional assurance regarding the diagnostic quality of the images. It helps avoid errors, the need to repeat scans and thus unnecessary waiting times for patients – and all irrespective of whether they are dealing with trauma, orthopedic, or oncological cases.

Somatom go.Top offers TwinBeam Dual Energy imaging. This technology splits the X-ray beam into two energy spectra before it reaches the patient, acquiring two image datasets thus providing additional information about the tissue. This is particularly beneficial in soft tissue differentiation and for oncology. SOMATOM go.Top CT scanner can be controlled on the move, while all computer hardware that was till now located in the console room has been integrated into the gantry of the scanner. This way, the institutions can benefit from a flexible room concept which drastically reduces the installation costs.

Mr. Vivek Kanade, Executive Director, Siemens Healthineers, India mentions, “We are glad to install our first SOMATOM go.Top CT scanner at KGS Scans, one of the renowned radiology centers, that has always seen a high patient inflow and has the experience of scanning all patient types and cases. This scanner addresses the ever-increasing needs of workflow efficiency, clinical and financial requirements of healthcare providers, enabling them to improve patient experience.”

Dr. KG Srinivasan, Managing Director of KGS Advanced MR and CT Scans states, “I truly believe that every patient should have access to advanced diagnosis and treatment. With this robust and technologically advanced CT scanner, we hope to increase our reach and deliver excellent patient-centered care.”
