new oxford facility

New sustainable MRI production site in Oxfordshire

The new facility in North Oxfordshire will home the design and manufacture of superconducting magnets used in healthcare facilities globally for MRI patient scans. Novel technology used minimises the use of helium, making scanners lighter, easier to install and more sustainable.

The site will be operationally carbon-neutral and will provide environmental benefits to the local economy from its planned opening in 2026.

Resource preservation and  MRI (Magnetom Free Max/ Flow**)

The innovative MAGNETOM Free.Max uses DryCool technology, helping to address the need to preserve helium, an increasingly scare resource.  DryCool technology reduces the amount of liquid helium required for cooling to 0.7 litres from as much as 1,500 litres, preserving natural resources and saving costs.

Nationwide, our AI-powered reconstruction technology is revolutionising MRI scans, cutting scanning times by up to 60% without compromising image quality.

HA201EU-Halcyon Physics

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

A Varian Halcyon with a new linear accelerator (linac), used in radiotherapy treatment for cancer patients, led to boosting patient treatments by 20% monthly while reducing power consumption by 70%.

“The Halcyon is helping us to care for our patients and care for the planet at the same time, and this is definitely an approach we’ll be looking to continue as we move the service forward.”
