CT hand-on workshops at Conference

In short and intense sessions during a conference you learn tips and tricks from clinical experts.

A clinical hands-on workshop is a one to two-hour training program for ten to thirty participants, which focuses on a specific clinical specialty and is held by a faculty of clinical experts. It includes lectures and hands-on sessions based on Siemens' advanced workplaces.

In 2016, we are planning CT-colonography hands-on workshops at the ESGAR workshop in Gothenburg/Sweden and at the ESGAR congress in Prague/Czech Republic. In addition, a hands-on workshop is organized during the ESC congress in London/UK in August.

Clinical Webinars

Enhance your clinical expertise by listening to one of our clinical webinars.

Are you interested in finding out the latest information in healthcare imaging? Would you like to discover new technologies and gain access to some of the world’s most renowned clinicians? All of this without the need to travel, and completely free of charge?

Cardiologist Paulo Pedro M.D., SAMS Hospital, Lisbon, Portugal shows in a tutorial how to do cardiovascular CT examinations step by step. He explains in the whole process on SOMATOM Perspective.

Advances in low-kV imaging with the SOMATOM Force

Lowering the X-ray tube voltage in routine can be difficult to implement, especially in challenging clinical settings. Thomas Henzler, MD, demonstrates the low kV capabilities of the SOMATOM Force and their impressive clinical benefits.

Dual Energy CT in Clinical Practice

Focus of this webinar is Dual Energy CT in clinical practice. Associate Professor Thorsten R.C. Johnson, MD is covering the physical principles of DE and shares his experience on all available DE applications.

Department of Cardiology on Low Dose in Cardiac CT

In this Webinar Prof. Achenbach presents his experience in Cardiac CT scanning. He explains how excellent Cardiac CT imaging can be done at lowest possible dose values.

Head of the Department of Neuroradiology on CT Stroke Management

Prof. Dr. Tomandl shows the use of a combination of non-enhanced CT, CT-Perfusion and CT-Angiography for a comprehensive imaging of patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Clinical disease pattern of interstitial lung diseases including possible clinical diagnostic methods will be discussed by Dr. Remy-Jardin. Cases, providing the diagnostic value of HRCT scanning in such a patient population as well as the clinical assessment of these will be shown and demonstrated.

Watch the recording of the webinar on TAVI planning and advanced visualization, held by Lukas Lehmkuhl, MD. He presents basic concepts, CT protocols and evaluation strategies.

The content of these 30 Minute sessions presented by Walter Huda, PhD, are about the Physics on Computed Tomography in order to set a basis to be able to improve image quality.

Following materials are currently available:

Siemens SOMATOM Scanners are equipped with innovative technologies making CT scans tailored to the individual patient possible.

A series of flyers is available to help you to use these technologies to the fullest: experts from the Siemens CT Research & Development department share their knowledge with you.

Basic topics such as optimized patient positioning are addressed and special tips and tricks are provided for the examinations in challenging clinical situations. The flyers are meant to be placed next to the scanner so that you and your staff always have expert advice on dose reduction at the fingertips.

How to reduce dose in Cardio CT - SOMATOM Definition AS Family, syngo CT 2011A

The scanners of the SOMATOM Definition AS Family offer various scan modes to match the clinical requirements for different clinical situations in Cardio CT.
The flyer includes information about the appropriate scan mode and advice as to how reconstruction parameters should be chosen.

How to reduce dose in Cardio CT
SOMATOM Definition Flash, syngo CT 2011B

Coronary CT Angiography is one of the more challenging CT acquisitions in your daily practice. With the tips and tricks provided in this flyer, you will be prepared to decide on the scan mode and reconstruction settings. The unique technology of the Flash Spiral is covered, as are the other scan modes for Cardio CT on the SOMATOM Definition Flash.

How to scan with CARE Dose4D
syngo CT 2011

CARE Dose4D adjusts the tube current automatically for the individual patient and examination. This flyer provides information about the settings and how they can be customized to match the clinical needs of the institution based on the technology implemented in syngo CT 2011.

How to scan with CARE kV
syngo CT 2011

CARE kV makes automated tube voltage adjustment possible, and CARE Child even allows for scanning with 70 kV. This flyer includes information about the prerequisites and workflow, and information about the technology of tube voltage adaption.

How to scan children with FAST CARE
syngo CT 2011

The new dose management features will be especially beneficial to the youngest patients due to their increased sensitivity to radiation dosage. To meet special requirements in pediatric CT imaging, this flyer summarizes tips and tricks for scanning children with FAST CARE.

The following training materials are established to support you and your staff in daily clinical pratice.

Siemens Healthcare is happy to provide you with a brilliant way to educate staff and patients about the human anatomy as seen through a CT-scanner.

Perfect for the patient waiting room, the staff lounge or the wall of the reading room, these posters show the wide range of views that are easily created with a CT dataset. In every poster, key anatomy is clearly labeled and workflows explained.

International CT Image Contest

International CT Image Contest

In October 2009 CT customers from around the world were asked to submit clinical cases with the highest image quality obtained at the lowest possible radiation dose to participate in the world’s first CT image contest. The winning images are now available as an exclusive poster print. Every image is underlined by a jury statement and a dose meter, indicating the little amount of radiation dose applied.

CT Neuro Anatomy & Pathology

CT Neuro Anatomy & Pathology
Together with Stephan Kloska, MD, from Muenster University, Muenster, Germany, Siemens Healthcare designed a poster focusing on anatomy and CT-specific landmarks relevant for CT angiographies of neck and head vessels. Information about a recommended stroke workflow is also included. The radiology department of Muenster performs around 5500 neuro examinations per year, providing the faculty has an extensive experience in neuroradiology.

CT Colonography

CT Colonography

Thomas Mang, MD, and co-workers from the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, have performed around 800 CTC exams on their SOMATOM Sensation 16 and 64 scanners over the last four years. Based on their experience with virtual colonoscopy, they have created a poster demonstrating the spectrum of CTC findings in colon diseases. All diseases are briefly described and extensively illustrated in 3D and 2D CT images, guiding and assisting users in the reporting of findings.

CT Intervention – Vertebroplasty

CT Intervention – Vertebroplasty

There has been a steady rise in the use of CT for biopsy and for image-guided, minimally-invasive therapies. Thanks to the excellent cooperation between Ralf Hofmann, MD, from the University of Munich, Campus Großhadern, Germany and Siemens a new clinical poster was designed. The poster informs, physicians and patients about state-of-the-art procedures in vertebroplasty, offering information regarding indications, contra-indications as well as access paths and results.

In addition to the comprehensive clinical curriculum Siemens offers, you will find here a list of recommended CT Literature to further deepen your knowledge.
