  • Accurate imaging with state-of-the-art flat-panel detector technology for improved patient care
  • Intuitive touchscreen operation improves productivity in the OR
  • 99.8 percent system availability3 reduces operating costs

Siemens Healthineers will introduce a new version of Cios Select1 at the 2018 Annual Congress of the European Society of Radiology (ECR). The mobile C-arm is now available not only with the customary image intensifier, but also with state-of-the-art flat-panel detector technology. It also offers many other features designed specifically for intraoperative imaging in orthopedics, trauma surgery, urology, pain management, and peripheral vascular surgery.

The new Cios Select now makes flat-panel detector technology available in the medium price segment. This means that routine surgery can now also benefit from better image quality at a higher resolution and very low radiation exposure. For standard surgical procedures in particular, patient care can be improved without high investment costs. The 21 x 21 cm flat-panel detector expands the field of view by about 20 percent compared with image intensifiers in the same class.2 It delivers an image free of geometrical distortion and offers a higher grayscale resolution, making the various anatomical structures visible with greater accuracy.

In addition, the new Cios Select was designed with the goal to improve the workflow in the OR. An easy-to-operate touchscreen interface lets users in the OR control the mobile C-arm intuitively. Surgeons can release X-ray imaging with an optional wireless footwitch. The advantage here is that fewer cables on the floor makes moving of other equipment easier.

Another outstanding features of Cios Select are its extremely robust hardware and software, its 99.8 percent system availability3, and its low maintenance requirements.

The especially large opening of the mobile C-arm facilitates fast and easy positioning. The opening, now up to 25 percent larger 4, gives the clinical staff more space around the patient, so the device doesn’t have to be removed from the operating table during surgery.

“Cios Select with flat-panel detector technology combines premium imaging quality with economical design. The result is a system that offers excellent images, is easy to operate, and is highly reliable,” says Peter Seitz, General Manager of Surgery at Siemens Healthineers. “The result is improved patient care in routine surgery, and costs are also kept under control.”
