To promote American Heart Month, please join Siemens Healthineers in a review of key cardiac markers for heart failure: BNP and NT-proBNP. Heart failure is a serious condition that affects about 6.5 million people in the United States, and there are about 960,000 new cases occur each year.1 The disorder is likely to become more common because people are living longer and because, in some countries, certain risk factors for heart disease (such as obesity, diabetes, smoking, and high blood pressure) are affecting more people.2 The natriuretic peptides, BNP and NT-proBNP, are important tools available to physicians with this important diagnosis of heart failure.3

Speaking on these findings, Dr. Jim Aguanno, PhD, Senior Clinical Consultant - Scientific and Clinical Affairs at Siemens Healthineers, will:

  • Provide the definition of heart failure
  • Discuss the types and pathophysiology of heart failure
  • Discuss the symptoms and causes of heart failure
  • Discuss the clinical utility of BNP and NT-proBNP for the diagnosis of heart failure
