BioMatrix TechnologyEmbrace human nature
Patients have unique, individual characteristics – biovariabilities. Different physiologies and anatomies – but also the way we interact with them and technology – cause unwarranted variations in imaging results. BioMatrix Technology helps to overcome these challenges by automatically adjusting to patient biovariability. By embracing human nature in this way, we can personalize examinations and help expand precision medicine.
Overall MRI Experience
Being referred to an MRI examination to clarify an initial clinical diagnosis as well as undergoing the MRI scan itself can cause a lot of anxiety for patients.
BioMatrix technology is designed to give you more time to focus on the patient to make the experience of the MRI examination as pleasant as possible.
Reliable positioning for all anatomies
Select&GO lets operators use artificial intelligence to automatically position patients up to 30%3 faster and avoid repositioning delays. The user simply selects the region or organ to be scanned with one touch on the display and the patient is precisely positioned.
MR examinations for children
Imaging children1 poses challenges, such as generally smaller and different anatomies as well as the inability to lie still for extended periods of time - these have a direct impact on MRI pediatric imaging.
Our BioMatrix systems have a wide range of features to make MR imaging for adults and children more comfortable and robust.

- Quiet Suite
Lets you improve pediatric patients' experience significantly1. Now you can conduct complete, quiet neurological and orthopedic exam, with no compromises in image quality.
- Respiratory sensors
Automatically detect breathing patterns as soon as the patient lies on the table. This simplifies workflow as operators can perform respiratory-triggered scans without further interaction and reduces the number of cables and belts connected to the patient.
- BioMatrix Tuners
Automatically adapt to challenging anatomies such as the head/neck area, the spine and the abdomen, for reliable exams. Evan in difficult scan regions, intelligent coil technology consistently delivers excellent homogeneity and fat saturation. This provides robust, reproducible, high-quality imaging – for every patient, every time.
- Quiet Suite
Imaging for kyphotic patients

Our BioMatrix systems can be equipped with a wide selection of dedicated coils that can be adjusted to the patients anatomy and make MR imaging more comfortable.
- Tiltable Head-Neck coil
Our BioMatrix systems come with a tiltable head-neck coil that allows a more flexible positioning of patients undergoing brain, neck or upper spine imaging.
- UltraFlex Large 18 and UltraFlex Small 18
Our wrap around coils made from soft and flexible materials UltraFlex 18 Large and Small coils are very flexible multi-purpose coils that that allow for easy and comfortable patient positioning and can be used for high-resolution imaging in e.g. unilateral hip, foot/ankle, hand/wrist or small FOV imaging in the body.

Long examination times
Depending on the body part examined, MR scans commonly take from 15 to 45 minutes and complex examinations can take up to 60 min. For many patients extensive examination times can cause discomfort and it can be a challenge to lay still for the full time of the examination.
Our Biomatrix systems provide solutions to speed up examination times to improve the patient experience.

- Turbo Suite Essential
Turbo Suite Essential leverages high element density coils and unique parallel imaging techniques to deliver routine exams in 10 to 15 minutes. With Turbo Suite Essential, a comprehensive neurological exam, including time-of-flight, can be performed in 10 minutes. Isotropic 3D MSK exams utilize the power of CAIPIRINHA, delivering all clinically relevant contrasts in 10 minutes. For body imaging, up to 50%1 shorter breath-holds and high-resolution scans are possible with CAIPRINHA.

BioMatrix: a world first
BioMatrix Technology anticipates and responds to the challenges faced in each individual scan, so that the patient no longer needs to adapt to the system. Instead, the system adapts to the patient. This is an important prerequisite for standardizing MRI scans. “With MAGNETOM Vida, it takes us five minutes to scan a patient with a glioblastoma tumor before going into surgery,” said Professor Mike Notohamiprodjo, MD in Tübingen. “The scan is planned and conducted semi-automatically and produces robust and standardized image data.”
