- Advanced scanner with ultra-fast time of flight and unique air-cooled design
- Sustainable imaging platform with low total cost of ownership
- Addresses all clinical needs, including oncology, theranostics, cardiology, and neurology
Siemens Healthineers is pleased to announce that the Health Canada-licensed Biograph Trinion, a high-performance, energy-efficient positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scanner, is now available across Canada. Biograph Trinion is fully equipped with an air-cooled, scalable, lutetium oxyorthosilicate (LSO)-based digital detector with 239-picosecond (ps) ultra-fast time of flight (TOF) performance for small lesion detectability and effective sensitivity up to 128 cps/kBq, enabling faster scans and lower patient radiation doses for a more efficient and patient-friendly imaging experience.
“With the Biograph Trinion, Siemens Healthineers is proud to offer Canadians faster, more precise PET/CT scanning experiences that meet clinical demands,” said Scott MacDonald, product line manager, computed tomography and molecular imaging at Siemens Healthineers Canada.
One, high-performance PET/CT platform
Biograph Trinion is a platform that fully integrates a best-in-class trio of PET, CT, and syngo.via software into one system, eliminating the need for separate CT acquisition systems or post-processing stations. Integrated post-processing imaging applications include oncology, theranostics (which combines the approaches of diagnostics and therapeutics to identify and treat certain forms of cancer), cardiovascular imaging, and neurology imaging (including Alzheimer’s disease).
A new imaging experience
Biograph Trinion was designed with both users and patients in mind. Its Scan&GO tablet interface allows technologists to efficiently set up and operate scans from inside or outside the scan room. Also, AI-based workflow automation through myExam Companion™ streamlines operations from start to finish, delivering consistent results and a more intuitive user experience. From the patient's perspective, the scanner’s rear-facing integrated patient camera enables real-time monitoring and communication, while the patient moodlight helps alleviate stress and improve comfort.
Always the right fit
With a compact footprint, integrated computing, and an air-cooled design, Biograph Trinion does not require a separate equipment room, reducing infrastructure demands and making it easier to install in a wide variety of care settings.
“Innovative technology like this is how we can redesign access to care”, MacDonald continued, “By offering a compact PET/CT that can be installed in most existing rooms without the need for an equipment room or extensive renovations, we are opening the opportunity for easy installation and use across the country.”
