Tawam Molecular Imaging Centre, Al AinA turnkey solution from Siemens Healthcare – from project idea to partnership

A turnkey solution from Siemens Healthcare

In close cooperation with the customer, Mubadala Healthcare as part of the Mubadala Development Corporation, Siemens Healthcare is implementing a complete state-of-the-art turnkey solution, which is setting the standard in terms of innovation and workflow. The Tawam Molecular Imaging Centre (Tawam MIC) in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is setting a new benchmark for healthcare – through a comprehensive concept that ranges from the latest diagnostic capabilities of PET/CT to one of the first cyclotrons in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Siemens Healthcare proved to have all the core competencies needed to provide the customer with an integrated solution from A to Z – from project idea to implementation to partnership.

Project scope: An “all-round” solution in three phases
A coherent and comprehensive solution approach helps to ensure that all customer requirements are met seamlessly, from a single source, and Siemens Healthcare is assuming total turnkey responsibility for the project.

Siemens Healthcare - Turnkey Solutions
  • The project idea, concept, and planning phase, set the stage for a successful implementation. This started with the definition of strategic goals and the clinical output specifications, and ranged all the way to the concept for clinical workflow, architectural design*, IT, logistics, and building infrastructure. This phase also included the conceptual design for the operation of the cyclotron. One special highlight is the patient-centric concept of the centre, which is unprecedented in the region. Siemens developed a design whereby patients can remain in their room, a space which offers the comfort of a deluxe hotel, except for the duration of the actual PET/CT examination.
  • The following implementation phase comprises of the construction of the building infrastructure and the delivery of medical equipment and IT. All providers are coordinated under the leadership of Siemens Healthcare and other Siemens Divisions.
  • And after successful implementation, the partnership phase foresees a longer-term commitment of Siemens to the Tawam MIC. Possible offerings for the future would include technical services, and facility management.
