Third party publication: Assessment of Plasma Sample Quality on Siemens Atellica® COAG 360 System

Preanalytical errors account for up to 70% of mistakes in laboratory diagnostics. In addition to underfilled or overfilled samples, assay-specific HIL interferences (i.e. hemolysis, icterus and turbidity) can lead to false analysis results. While in the past, sample inspection for HIL interferences has been performed by the very limited means of visual assessment, newer coagulation analyzers are equipped with HIL detection features, detecting HIL interferences using multichromatic wavelength readers. In this publication, Lippi et al. assess the reliability and validity of HIL detection on the Atellica® COAG 360 System* for the enhancement of quality in hemostasis testing.§
