Vascular Ultrasound

This one-day course is designed to assist sonographers in the development of vascular sonography skills or to strengthen existing skills. Each of the topics will be supported by theory and hands-on activities to strengthen scanning confidence.

Upper Extremity Venous Sonography
At the end of this session, attendants will:

• Be familiar with upper extremity venous anatomy and hemodynamics
• Know about basic upper extremity venous scanning techniques
• List some of the common pathologies affecting upper extremity veins

Liver Doppler and Portal Hypertension
At the end of this session, attendants will:

• Be familiar with intrahepatic vessels and their hemodynamics
• Know about basic liver Doppler scanning techniques
• Understand portal hypertension
• Recognize common sonographic features of portal hypertension

Renal Doppler
At the end of this session, attendants will:

• Be familiar with renal vessels and their hemodynamics
• Know about basic renal Doppler scanning techniques in both native and transplant kidneys
• Understand renal artery stenosis
• Recognize common sonographic features of renal artery stenosis in both native and transplant kidneys
