Siemens Healthineers is pleased to announce the Health Canada-licensed MAGNETOM Flow. Platform, its first 1.5 tesla (T) platform for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with virtually helium-free technology now available across Canada. Engineered for efficiency, patient comfort, and clinical versatility, MAGNETOM Flow. Platform with DryCool technology is designed to enhance patient access to high-quality MRI services while promoting sustainability and operational efficiency.

Sustainable solutions and enhanced patient experience

At the heart of this innovation is DryCool technology, which reduces helium requirements to just 0.7 litres, down from the traditional 600 to 1,500 litres. Eliminating the need for a quench pipe, MAGNETOM Flow. Platform is the most compact 1.5T scanner, only requiring 25 square meters in footprint for operations. This platform is well-suited for a variety of healthcare environments, from urban hospitals to remote community clinics. Despite its size, it offers a full 60 cm bore and comprehensive support for the full range of MRI applications.

Efficient workflow and clinical performance

AI-powered image reconstruction helps reduce scan times by up to 50 per cent, enabling faster, more efficient exams while maintaining excellent image quality. The MAGNETOM Flow. Platform enables technologists to conduct exams directly at the patient’s side—from registration to positioning to scan initiation. Flexible coils that conform like a blanket, paired with new sensors for automatic positioning, further enhance patient comfort and reduce setup time.

“Access to high-quality MRI services is crucial for addressing the growing healthcare needs in Canada, especially given current economic constraints, staff shortages and cost pressures,” said Sébastien Deval, business line manager, Magnetic Resonance at Siemens Healthineers Canada. “Bringing the MAGNETOM Flow. Platform to Canada is a significant step in our commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and sustainability. This innovation supports rising demand for MRI exams while enabling providers to deliver excellent care, efficiently and affordably.”

The system's innovative features, such as its user-friendly interface and advanced imaging capabilities, support a wide range of clinical applications, from neurological to musculoskeletal imaging. Its design prioritizes patient comfort and operational efficiency, making it an ideal solution for institutions aiming to expand or modernize their imaging services.

"By integrating MAGNETOM Flow. Platform into our healthcare infrastructure, we're not only advancing diagnostic capabilities but also addressing the pressing need for equitable care across Canada," added Deval. "Our goal is to support healthcare providers in delivering exceptional care to every Canadian."
