Overcoming limited reading capacities during COVID-19
The spread of COVID-19 challenges healthcare systems globally. With this, also the burden on radiologists is growing, who must review and prioritize a rising number of patient chest scans each day. Combined with the absence of qualified radiologists due to quarantine or sick leave, this poses significant risks and challenges to healthcare providers who must secure and even ramp up capacity. In these situations, simple, flexible, and scalable access to radiological experts can help to overcome staff shortage or master high volumes of examinations in radiology departments.

How it works
Secure data handling between hospitals and radiologists
Compliance with data protection and data security are very important to us. The basic principles of "Privacy by design and by default" have been implemented in the architecture of the BEFUND24 teleradiology solution. The development was performed according to the cybersecurity development standard of Siemens Healthineers. Independent security and penetration tests are carried out regularly. The patient data is processed on the local components of the hospital and radiologist and is generally only transferred between the hospital and the radiologist using secure end-to-end encryption.
BEFUND24 is currently only available in Germany and a joint venture between Siemens Healthineers and “radiologen24 GmbH”. For more information please visit the official website. (available in German only)
