myNeedle Companion is an interventional radiology solution for procedures such as imageguided biopsies and percutaneous ablations

myNeedle CompanionUniversal. Simple. Powerful.

With myNeedle Companion, we are introducing the first Siemens Healthineers solution that harmonizes planning and guidance for percutaneous needle procedures across modalities. Workflow and user interface are unified on angiography and CT systems. Image fusion seamlessly combines data from multiple modalities to help you visualize critical anatomical structures. Thanks to integrated software-assisted path planning and guided insertion, both routine and complex procedures are simplified. In addition, the integrated laser guidance system, myNeedle Laser,* visualizes the needle entry point and angle for you, with the aim of increasing efficiency and reducing variations of outcomes in interventional radiology.

myNeedle Companion enables you to plan even advanced procedures requiring multiple needles. No matter what your task entails, you are free to select the system with respect to its suitability or utilization capacity – without additional training effort.

myNeedle Companion workflow explained

myNeedle Companion is a package consisting of myNeedle Guide (planning and guidance software), myNeedle Laser* (laser guidance system), and dedicated scan protocols. The solution harmonizes both workflow and user interface across selected angiography and CT systems, with the aim of enabling consistent results.

  1. Image acquisition with SOMATOM X.ceed

Visualize lesions in 2D and 3D with flexible volume coverage.

Please note: Availability of scan modes, system hardware, and software features varies between our CT and angiography systems.

  2. Planning of the needle pathways using data sets from multiple modalities

Plan one or more needle pathways and pinpoint target zones in different cross-sections, then superimpose them in all views to assess the neighboring anatomy. You can also fuse data sets from multiple modalities.

Images represent a phantom dataset for demonstration purposes.

  3. Needle insertion using laser guidance and automatic path alignment
Use myNeedle Laser* to insert the needles at the planned location and angle. The system automatically aligns the laser cross with the planned path. You can monitor the progression of the needles using imaging.
  4. Monitoring a percutaneous needle procedure

With the support of myNeedle Companion, you can perform both routine and advanced procedures with accuracy and confidence.

Review the clinical literature

Single-center studies using Siemens Healthineers angiography systems with our needle guidance solutions** have repeatedly shown excellent results.
myNeedle Guide allows for an 87% success rate when placing T-bars for needle localization
myNeedle Guide supports accurate planning and guidance of needle procedures such as tumor localizations.3 In one study with 23 patients where the software was paired with intraoperative fluoroscopic imaging, clinicians report an 87% success rate for placing T-bars to localize small pulmonary nodules.4
myNeedle Guide allows for an 87% success rate when placing T-bars for needle localization
myNeedle Guide helps increase your confidence when targeting lesions during needle procedures. Using cone-beam CT alongside fluoroscopic guidance, clinicians in one study with 15 patients achieved a mean precision of 7 mm ± 3 mm absolute deviation of the needle tip from the lesion center.5
myNeedle Guide enables a puncture success rate of 98.2% during image-guided biopsies
Using myNeedle Guide to plan image-guided biopsies immediately before the procedures may help you minimize the need for repeat procedures. One study with 108 patients where cone-beam-based intraoperative 3D imaging was used reports a high puncture success rate of 98.2% despite the need for targeting small lesions.2
