vFFR (vessel Fractional Flow Reserve) is a software solution that uses angiographic image data to assess the coronary physiology. The vFFR indicates the hemodynamic relevance of a specific coronary lesion and shows where blood flow is significantly impaired.
vFFR is clinically well validated (FAST study series: e.g. FAST I, FAST II, FAST Post, FAST III) and shows promise as a replacement of the current goldstandard, invasive (pressure-wire based) hyperemic FFR measrements. As part of the option QuantWeb on ARTIS icono, vFFR is integrated in the syngo Application software to support a smooth workflow.
With the latest syngo Application software version VE50, vFFR is also available on the ARTIS Touch UI for table-side operation.
Latest update on clinical evidence:
Together with our partners European Cardiovascular Research Institute
(ECRI), Pie Medical Imaging and under the leadership of Dr Joost
Daemen the FAST III trial has investigated the outcome impact of vFFR-
guided PCI in patients with stable coronary artery disease or non-ST
elevation acute coronary syndrome with an indication for physiological
assessment of intermediate coronary lesions compared to FFR-guided
treatment in 2235 patients at 37 sites in 7 European countries to further
strengthen the body of evidence on the use of vFFR in the pursuit of a
quicker and less stressful diagnosis, and lower cost of care.
Results where recently presented at the yearly congress of the American College of Cardiology in New Orleans.
FAST III has met its primary endpoint and could confirm non-inferiority of vFFR vs. pressure-wire based FFR.
