Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) causes the liver to accumulate fat, which can lead to scarring and cirrhosis, an indication of the end stage of chronic liver disease. The manifestation of liver disease is often asymptomatic, and patients requiring care may be difficult to identify. In this video, Dr. Arun J. Sanyal discusses the use of different non-invasive tests that may help physicians assess patients with silent liver disease to determine the type of care they should receive.
