- On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s Reunification Day, the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center was inaugurated.
- The ceremony was honored by the special attention of the of the Vietnamese Party and State leaders.
As part of the nationwide initiative to simultaneously launch 80 key projects marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025)1, the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center was officially inaugurated and received congratulatory remarks from the Prime Minister of Vietnam.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, representatives from the People’s Committee and Department of Health of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, along with leaders of the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center and other distinguished guests toured key departments of the center, including the diagnostic imaging unit featuring the SOMATOM go.Now CT scanner, provided by Siemens Healthineers.
Bridging the gaps in healthcare with advanced technology
In effort to enhance healthcare access in the remote islands of Con Dao, Siemens Healthineers has installed the SOMATOM go.Now – a modern CT system suitable for operation in remote and island regions.
Equipped with the myExam Companion, the AI-powered system simplifies scan workflows and standardizes image quality, enabling consistent performance even with limited radiological staffing. The integrated Tin Filter technology further reduces radiation dose while enhancing soft-tissue contrast – a key feature for detecting common conditions affecting the lungs2 and abdomen3 in coastal and island populations.
With its deployment in Con Dao, the SOMATOM go.Now is expected to empower local clinicians with early disease detection and more accurate diagnoses, reducing reliance on mainland transfers and ensuring timely, effective care for island residents.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Trinh Hoang Ha, Senior Director, Head of External Affairs, Siemens Healthineers Vietnam, emphasized the vision: "At Siemens Healthineers, we believe that everyone – regardless of location – deserves access to high-quality healthcare. Delivering advanced imaging technology to Con Dao is just the beginning. We’re committed to long-term partnership through clinical training and knowledge transfer, ensuring the local medical team is confident and capable in operating the system.”
“This initiative builds on Siemens Healthineers’ prior success at the Military-Civilian Medical Center in Ly Son Island, Quang Ngai Province. These solutions, along with remote image-sharing capabilities, have enabled timely teleconsultations with mainland specialists leading to faster, more accurate diagnoses and reducing patient referral costs and delays.”, he continued.
Landmark achievement towards improving healthcare access in Vietnam
Covering nearly 9,300 square meters, the new Con Dao Medical Center is a major healthcare investment for the region, featuring dedicated departments for emergency and critical care, diagnostic imaging, surgery, laboratory services, outpatient care, and inpatient treatment4.
The center is expected to significantly improve access to medical services for island residents, military personnel, and tourists alike, bolstering healthcare resilience in one of Vietnam’s most remote archipelagos.
Through this milestone, Siemens Healthineers reaffirms the ongoing partnership with Vietnam’s healthcare sector, delivering innovative technology and sustainable medical solutions to areas where they are needed most.
