SHIFTing healthcare forward: Siemens Healthineers and UP Manila build local innovation capacityMarch 3-5, 2026 | University of the Philippines, Manila

SHIFT Day 1

Philippines

|2026-03-03 – 2026-03-06

Siemens Healthineers and the University of the Philippines Manila launch the first SHIFT Capacity Building Program, equipping healthcare innovators with new approaches to address local healthcare challenges.

Innovation in healthcare starts with people who are willing to ask difficult questions, challenge assumptions and imagine better ways of caring for patients. That was the spirit behind the launch of the Siemens Healthineers Innovation Ecosystem: Capacity Building Program, or SHIFT, in partnership with the University of the Philippines Manila (UP Manila) through its Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO).

The first SHIFT cohort brought together healthcare professionals and innovators for an intensive program focused on developing the skills, mindset and approaches needed to turn healthcare challenges into meaningful solutions for Filipino patients and communities.

SHIFT goes beyond introducing innovation frameworks and tools. At its heart is a belief that those closest to healthcare challenges are uniquely positioned to help solve them. Over the course of the program, participants explored new ways of identifying problems, developing ideas and working collaboratively toward solutions that can make a difference in healthcare delivery. For UP Manila, the partnership also represents an opportunity to strengthen the connection between healthcare expertise, innovation and technology transfer

The program culminated in participants presenting their ideas and solutions, putting their newly developed innovation skills into practice.

Congratulations to the Top 3 Most Innovative ideas:

  • Team 4 - Sky Beat
  • Team 6 - Echo in a Box
  • Team 8 - Bagwis

The SHIFT winners celebrate their achievements after presenting their healthcare innovation concepts.

As the first Philippine cohort completes the program, SHIFT marks the beginning of a broader journey: building a community of innovators who can help address the country's healthcare challenges from the ground up. With SHIFT, Siemens Healthineers and UP Manila aim to spark a new generation of innovators who can help shape a healthier future for Filipinos - one idea, one challenge and one solution at a time.
