Nearly 300 radiologists and healthcare professionals gathered in Cebu and Manila for the return of the Radiology Across Borders (RAB) IMPACT Program, reinforcing a shared commitment to enhancing breast imaging expertise and improving patient care across the Philippines – together with the Philippine College of Radiology.
The Radiology Across Borders (RAB) IMPACT Program (Improving Mammographic Proficiency and Clinical Technique) successfully returned to the Philippines through a tripartite partnership among Radiology Across Borders, Siemens Healthineers, and the Philippine College of Radiology (PCR). The program was held at bai Hotel Cebu on May 8–9 and Seda Hotel Bonifacio Global City on May 15–16, bringing together nearly 300 radiologists committed to advancing breast imaging, learning and upskilling while improving patient outcomes.
Designed to strengthen breast imaging interpretation skills and enhance diagnostic accuracy, the two (2) day program featured lectures, case discussions, and hands-on workshops led by RAB volunteer breast radiology experts Dr. Regina Hooley, Dr. Bronwyn Slater, and Dr. Emmeline Lee. The program was designed by Dr. Trina Whittaker, Director for Clinical Engagement at Radiology Across Borders.

The strong turnout in both Cebu and Manila reflected the growing commitment of the Philippine breast imaging community to continuous learning and professional development. This is particularly significant as breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Filipino women, underscoring the importance of early detection and accurate diagnosis.
A key highlight of the program was the highly interactive ultrasound hands-on workshops. Participants gained practical experience using Siemens Healthineers ultrasound systems, including the ACUSON Sequoia, ACUSON Juniper, ACUSON Redwood, ACUSON Maple, and ACUSON P500, while learning breast imaging applications and image-guided biopsy techniques from the experienced RAB faculty.
Throughout the workshops, participants actively engaged with faculty members, explored clinical applications, and connected lecture learnings with real-world imaging practice. The open exchange of knowledge and experiences created a dynamic learning environment that reinforced the program's objective of elevating breast imaging standards in the country.
The successful return of the IMPACT Program highlights the shared commitment of Radiology Across Borders, the Philippine College of Radiology, and Siemens Healthineers to advancing clinical excellence through education, collaboration, and innovation - ultimately helping improve access to quality breast care for more communities across the Philippines.
