Nasopharyngeal cancer – also commonly known as nose or throat cancer - is the 23rd most common cancer worldwide[1]. It is a rare type of cancer but is common among Asians with a high incidence for both male and female. An estimated 2.2 in every 100,000 Filipinos can get nasopharyngeal cancer before the age of 75[2]. In 2017, 47-year-old Ryan Ravanzo discovered he had cancer – the same type of cancer his father also had.

It was a devastating experience for him but with the right treatment and support from family, friends, and those who have been touched by the similar disease, he was able to overcome his anxiety and pushed forward. He has lived his whole life in Dagupan, Pangasinan – a province that is about a 3-hour drive from the country’s capital Manila. Listen as he shares his story of hope and inspiring experience with the help of the doctors and medical staff at Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital.
