Introduction

 A 75-year-old male presented with difficulty in micturition and urinary urgency. 

Diagnosis

 Pelvic ultrasound and MRI of the prostate were performed, confirming a diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with a prostatic volume of 117 g and a post-void residual urine of 100 mL. 

Procedure Description

Transurethral resection of the prostate was deemed unsuitable due to the patient’s age, and the patient opted for interventional prostate artery embolization (PAE). 

Prostate artery embolization (PAE) is a minimally invasive procedure used to address symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate. This procedure reduces the size of the prostate gland, providing symptom relief. Selective catheterization of the left and right prostate lobes was performed separately with the assistance of syngo DynaCT acquisition and syngo Embolization Guidance. Super-selective syngo DynaCT imaging was utilized to ensure no unintended embolization of neighboring structures.
