On 16 December 2025, Bach Mai Hospital officially launched two NAEOTOM Alpha systems, marking the first deployment of Siemens Healthineers’ photon-counting CT technology in Vietnam’s public healthcare system.
Held within the framework of the Inauguration Ceremony of Modern Medical Equipment for Diagnosis and Treatment, the event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health, the German Embassy in Vietnam, the leadership of Bach Mai Hospital, experts from the Radiology Association of Vietnam, healthcare professionals, members of the media, and Siemens Healthineers.
With this launch, Bach Mai Hospital became the first public hospital in Vietnam to put Siemens Healthineers' photon-counting CT into clinical operation and the first hospital in Asia to operate two such systems, marking the entry of this advanced imaging technology into Vietnam’s public healthcare system and expanding patient access to international-standard diagnostics.
As one of the country’s largest teaching hospitals, Bach Mai does not only treat the most complex cases from across the nation, it also educates and shapes the next generations of Vietnamese radiologists, clinicians, and medical leaders. The introduction of NAEOTOM Alpha therefore carries significance far beyond the installation of a new imaging system.
By bringing photon-counting CT into clinical practice, Bach Mai is able to train young physicians on the most advanced imaging technology available today, establish new diagnostic benchmarks, and translate cutting-edge innovation directly into daily patient care. For patients, this means access to faster, safer, and more precise diagnostic imaging, directly supporting earlier detection and more confident clinical decision-making in complex cases.
Mr. Fabian Martin Singer, General Manager of Siemens Healthineers Vietnam, remarked: “Photon-counting CT represents the most significant breakthrough in CT imaging in decades. With NAEOTOM Alpha, Siemens Healthineers brings the result of more than 15 years of long-term investment, intensive research, and engineering excellence into clinical practice. Today, with hundreds of NAEOTOM Alpha worldwide, installed at top teaching hospitals, and over 1,000 scientific publications to prove its value, this technology is no longer a vision of the future, it is clinically proven.”
The launch of NAEOTOM Alpha marks an important milestone in the partnership between Siemens Healthineers and Bach Mai Hospital, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing public healthcare in Vietnam. Looking ahead, both sides will continue to work closely to translate innovation into real clinical value, supporting medical education, scientific research, and, most importantly, improving access to high-quality diagnosis and care for patients and families across the country.
