More than 200 local and international experts gathered at Phuong Dong General Hospital to attend the Workshop on “Applications of Photon-Counting CT in Cardiovascular and Oncologic Imaging”.
The workshop was jointly organized by Vietnamese Society of Cardiovascular Imaging, Phuong Dong General Hospital and Siemens Healthineers Vietnam, with the aimed to analyze and evaluate the outstanding performance of the Photon Counting CT NAEOTOM Alpha in diagnosing cardiovascular and oncology diseases.
Moderated by the Chairman of the Vietnamese Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, the workshop featured Prof. MD. Francois Pontana from Lille University (France), alongside experts from Phuong Dong General Hospital and Siemens Healthineers Vietnam.
During the half-day workshop, the speakers presented and discussed a series of in-depth topics focusing on the applications of Photon Counting CT in early detection of cardiovascular and oncology diseases as well significant benefits of the NAEOTOM Alpha system in improving image quality, reducing radiation dose and enhancing patient safety.
“Indeed, photon-counting CT is redefining the role of computed tomography in cardiovascular and oncologic imaging. With its exceptional temporal and spatial resolution, we can achieve a more accurate assessment of coronary artery diseases. As a result, the number of patients referred to interventional cardiology for evaluation of atherosclerotic plaque burden will be significantly reduced.
Photon-counting CT has also opened up the possibility of assessing myocardial tissue within the same scan. From an oncology perspective, it enables a more precise evaluation of tumors, marking a new era in cancer detection and treatment.” - Prof. MD. Francois Pontana remarked.

The symposium provided a valuable scientific forum where experts from Vietnam and abroad shared their experience and the latest advancements in Photon Counting CT technology for cardiovascular and oncology imaging. It once again reaffirmed Siemens Healthineers Vietnam’s commitment to not only deliver advanced medical devices and solutions, but also partner with hospitals in order to bring cutting-edge technologies into clinical practice, contributing to improved diagnostic quality and better healthcare outcomes for patients in Vietnam.
