Sam Naicker recently became a first time mom to a beautiful baby girl and the topic of Generation Equality has never been more important to her as she paves the way not just for herself and her peers but also for the young women to come. Successfully juggling motherhood, her post graduate academics and a job that requires a lot of travel offers Sam a keen sense of pride as she maneuvers through each aspect of her womanhood with skill and grace.
Education is very close to her heart when supporting women empowerment. “I believe an educated girl can change the world. We should be open to empowering young girls and this will create new pathways in the future role of women.”
Sam is passionate about women supporting women. “Incredible things can happen when women support and inspire each other. It takes the same amount of energy to be nice as it is to be bitter towards another woman. You will surely reap the rewards by creating positive energy amongst each other. As women we can be promoters. Our gender has made it difficult to climb the ladder in our careers. The most noble and humble act is to promote other women’s success and acknowledge their potential.”
Sam believes that leadership potential is within all of us. “It is important to understand that leadership is not measured by a position or title. We all can be leaders in our own right. As women, we have our own natural abilities that can bring a new dimension in leadership. These qualities include the ability to show empathy, be nurturing and passionate. We can use this advantage in a leadership role as it sets us apart from the male leader.”
Her journey to become an Applications Specialist has not always been an easy path. She has failed along the way and acknowledges the importance of learning from one’s failures. “I have learnt its part of our incredible journey in life and have accepted it’s okay to start over. My advice to young women is not to be fixated on a career path. It is always better to engage in different avenues and this will assist in finding the ideal fit for you.”
