What was your key driving force to become a Project Manager?
I started my career at Siemens Healthineers as a Customer Service Engineer, learning the ins and outs of engineering and the customer cycle. When the role for a Project Manager became available, I knew that the time had come for seizing opportunities, allowing self-growth and development for oneself and making a difference for the greater good. It was the right time to take a step forward and allowing opportunities for others.
Tell us a little about your background?
I am an Electronic Engineering technician, majoring in Process Instrumentation and control from the Durban University of Technology. My repertoire spans a wide range of modality experience within the Siemens Healthineers Invivo sector.
Can you describe/outline your typical day?
My day starts with a strategic focus on planning, communicating and finding solutions. Diagnostics and problem solving is an integral part of how I get through my work day as I help role players achieve their goals.
How do you define success?
Setting a goal and achieving it. Being able to measure the achievement of the goal will determine my level of success.
What motivates you?
In Project Management, there is always a risk of failure or not being able to meet deadlines, this is what pushes me to always try and exceed our own expectations and the customer’s expectation. I find it very rewarding when I am able to see a project through to completion.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
There are always challenges however I am part of a brilliant team that support me in my role no matter what; we get the job done with good team work and camaraderie.

Work life balance is key to a successful mindset. Renew those old hobbies and excel in them. Reward yourself, reward your family. Work hard, play hard. A happy healthineer is a productive one.
What is the best advice you can give to youth who are forging a path in the medtech world?
Experience is invaluable. Absorb from those around you. Do not rush your growth, embrace it. Stay positive, sharpen up those listening skills…Comprehension is the key to understanding.
