Overview
Kidney disease remains underdiagnosed, despite its strong association with cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Clinicians frequently encounter gaps in recognizing early CKD, interpreting proteinuria and uACR values, and applying guideline‑directed therapies that slow progression and reduce cardiovascular risk. There is a demonstrated educational need for improved competency in identifying CKD using both eGFR and albuminuria, understanding the prognostic significance of proteinuria, and implementing evidence‑based interventions.
This webinar addresses current CKD definitions, clarifies the clinical interpretation of uACR thresholds, and outlines the four pillars of CKD management within the context of cardiovascular risk reduction. Participants will gain practical, up‑to‑date strategies to enhance early detection, optimize treatment, and improve long‑term patient outcomes.

Dr. James Januzzi, MD, is the Adolph Hutter Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Cardiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Chief Scientific Officer and C. Michael Gibson Chair at the Baim Institute for Clinical Research. He is a clinician, teacher, and experienced clinical researcher and clinical trialist. His research has contributed to the understanding of the care of patients with cardiovascular disease and his pioneering efforts in cardiac biomarker testing have set international standards for use in diagnosis, prognosis, and management of patients suffering from heart failure and acute coronary syndromes.
Dr. Januzzi has more than 1000 publications and is among the world’s top 1% most cited researchers. In 2024, Dr. Januzzi was named the American College of Cardiology Distinguished Clinical Scholar. Since 2005, Dr. Januzzi has served as the team cardiologist for the Boston Red Sox baseball club.
