Siemens Healthineers and KFSH announce a collaboration agreement to jointly develop new innovative solutions in clinical diagnosis and treatment

Siemens Healthineers announced today a master collaboration agreement with King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) to design, develop and commercialize new innovative solutions in the field of clinical diagnosis and treatment supported by the existing latest installed base and licenses of Siemens Healthineers in the KFSH&RC. The significance of this agreement lies in bringing together the wealth of global expertise and R&D focused approach of Siemens Healthineers combined with the well-established and highly diversified clinical knowledge and practice of KFSH&RC which made it a leading referral hospital in the region with a wide area of sub-specializations and massive data collection for research.


Back in January 2019, an MOU in this regard has been signed between both parties followed by a series of workshops to identify research interests and areas of collaboration primarily aimed to expand precision medicine through research activities in multiple fields such as Radiology, oncology, cardiology and other fields. As well as improve patient experience and increase operational efficiency through workflow optimization and digitalization projects.

Alongside the inauguration of this master collaboration agreement, several projects that were defined earlier will be initiated and managed by the newly established Collaboration Office at KFSH&RC premises which will also be the main driver of steering committee discussions and collaboration on research analysis in addition to monitoring the projects’ progress. Some of the first projects that this agreement will embark on in the field of neurology is the Localizing of focal epilepsy with high multiple b-value that aims to identify the focus of cortical abnormality and dysplasia in correlation with EEG reading results of localization. Moreover, another project to evaluate the correlation of uric crystal formation with pulmonary hypertension will be carried out as well.
