- Increased availability for all ultrasound devices in the hospital
- Greater standardization, latest technologies, and ability to budget with confidence
- Supplementary technology partnership for at least 10 years
Siemens Healthineers and Braunschweig Municipal Hospital have agreed to enter into a technology partnership in the field of ultrasound, under which Siemens Healthineers will administer and manage all ultrasound devices for the next ten years, with an option for 15 years. The partnership will provide a very high level of standardization, high-level capacity monitoring, and the integration of management software in the existing system, in addition to improvements in availability and patient care. As part of this technology partnership, Siemens Healthineers will ensure the fleet of devices continues to reflect the state of the art, and supply around 140 new devices. A financing plan will allow the hospital to plan its costs with confidence.
“We already have a successful technology partnership in place with Siemens Healthineers in the area of radiology,” says hospital CEO Dr. Andreas Goepfert. “We are expecting this new partnership in the field of ultrasound to improve the availability of all our devices, which will help us increase our patient throughput, as well as improving patient satisfaction.”
“The question of device availability is critically important for our operational purposes and also the performance of all our clinical services at Braunschweig Municipal Hospital,” adds Dr. Stefan Schaller, head of sales, Siemens Healthineers in Germany. “That’s why our plan focuses on availability, reliability and service quality, the customer’s needs, and sustainability.”
“Thanks to the technology partnership, Braunschweig Municipal Hospital will always be at the cutting edge of innovation,” adds Dr. Thomas Bartkiewicz, Medical Director of Braunschweig Municipal Hospital.
Braunschweig Municipal Hospital hopes this partnership will enable it to participate in future technological developments in addition to continuing to provide high-quality and cost-effective patient care. Under the partnership arrangement, Siemens Healthineers will upgrade existing ultrasound devices and introduce innovative technologies such as mobile ultrasound solutions. In the future, tracking software will display the precise location of the devices at all times, which will improve productivity since it will be easier to ensure the machines are used to capacity. The “teamplay” software solution from Siemens Healthineers networks all ultrasound systems to enable transparency regarding device utilization. That will enable further decisions, including any necessary adaptations to the technology roadmap, to be taken based on objective usage statistics. Regular employee training and on-site maintenance are integral components of the new partnership.
Siemens Healthineers and Braunschweig Municipal Hospital entered into a long-term technology partnership in 2017. On behalf of the hospital – one of the largest in northern Germany, with 1,499 beds – Siemens Healthineers currently assumes responsibility for supplying and maintaining all initial and replacement equipment in the areas of imaging, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine. It also provides several innovative services like Neo New Oncology. This technology from Neo enables hospital pathologists to demonstrate many genetic changes relevant to a treatment decision with just a single diagnostic test. The goal of this technology partnership is to assure high-quality and cost-effective medical care for the patients.
