syngo DynaCT Cardiac

New perspectives in the cath lab - 3D imaging by rotational angiography

Siemens is revolutionizing the workflow for complex cardiac interventions by introducing syngo DynaCT Cardiac, which enables CT-like imaging of the heart with angiography during the procedure.
syngo DynaCT Cardiac enhances your diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities by enabling you to visualize cardiac structures like the aortic root, the left atrium and LAA or pulmonary veins in 3D, in the cath lab.

How It Works

syngo DynaCT Cardiac without ECG-triggering1

syngo DynaCT Cardiac utilizes images acquired from one rotational angiography run to display the 3D morphology of the left atrium. Image acquisition is achieved in approx. 5 seconds after direct injection of contrast agent into the pulmonary artery. The 3D image is obtained by 3D reconstruction on the syngo Workplace and is available for assessment in the EP lab within less than 20 seconds after image acquisition.

Regardless of whether syngo DynaCT Cardiac is used with or without ECG-triggering, the three-dimensional cardiac morphology can be displayed as

  • Volume rendering technique visualization
  • Surface model (by using advanced segmentation algorithms of InSpace EP)
  • Endoscopic view ("Fly") visualization.

Additionally it is possible to visualize the detailed cardiac anatomy within cross-sectional images (MPRs).

How It Works

syngo DynaCT Cardiac with ECG-triggering1

syngo DynaCT Cardiac utilizes images acquired from one or multiple ECG-triggered rotational angiography runs to display the 3D morphology of the heart. Image acquisition is performed during application of contrast agent in approx. 20 seconds.

The 3D image is obtained by 3D reconstruction including retrospective ECG-gating on the syngo Workplace. The 3D image is available for assessment in the EP lab within less than 3 minutes after image acquisition.

Guide your procedure - Gain effective information
Up until the introduction of syngo DynaCT Cardiac, planning of procedures like atrial fibrillation ablations was based on CT or MR images acquired before the examination. Morphologic information of these preprocedural images is limited by the time lag to the actual procedure. The preprocedural approach does not account for dynamic changes in the anatomical structures. With the introduction of syngo DynaCT Cardiac cross-sectional images can now be acquired in the EP lab to guide your intervention.

What are the main advantages of syngo DynaCT Cardiac?
With syngo DynaCT Cardiac, cross-sectional images can be acquired in the EP lab. Compared to preprocedural CT or MR images, DynaCT visualizes the anatomy of the patient's left atrium in its actual state during the intervention. For you, this means reliable orientation during the ablation. The patient is spared the inconvenience of an extra CT scan

What is the difference between syngo DynaCT Cardiac for 20x20 and 30x40 FD?
syngo DynaCT Cardiac with the 30x40 flat detector system provides ECG-triggered rotational angiography and retrospective gated 3D reconstruction. This allows cross-sectional imaging of the beating heart. Due to the ECG-triggering the temporal image resolution even allows better visualization of moving structures in 3D. syngo DynaCT Cardiac with the 20x20 flat detector system is limited to the visualization of the left atrial anatomy in 3D.

Is syngo DynaCT Cardiac a commercially available product?
syngo DynaCT Cardiac is currently in clinical evaluation. If you want to learn more about the first clinical trials, please see the Scientific Articles.

What is the FOV (field of view)?
FOV with 30x40 FD: The maximum FOV is a volume scan of 18 cm height with a slice size of
24 x 24 cm.
FOV with 20x20 FD: The maximum FOV is a volume scan of 10 cm height with a slice size of
12 x 12 cm. .

Can I burn syngo DynaCT Cardiac images on a CD with a viewer?
Can I load these pictures on my laptop?

If you want to view bitmaps and avi movies, syngo - Siemens' unique software solution for all medical imaging tasks, applications, and systems - has mechanisms to create these files to import them into a presentation. If you want to visualize DICOM images, a DICOM viewer can be burned onto the CD-ROM via syngo Workplace. Diagnosis can only be performed on a cleared medical device.
