syngo Osteo CT measures the mineral density of the lumbar spine to help early diagnosis of osteopenia and osteoporosis, and to assess the effectiveness of treatment.
Commercially not available in Japan.

Clinical Applications
The software package is used as a screening tool for osteoporosis detection and also for follow-up to see the impact of treatment.

Features
It enables the quantitative determination of bone mineral content of the lumbar spine in mg/ml of calcium hydroxyapatite for the diagnosis and follow-up of osteoporosis with CT. The patient is scanned together with the water- and bone-equivalent reference phantom.

 

Capabilities include:

  • Semi-automatic contour tracing for the trabecular and cortical bone regions in the vertebra
  • Semi-automatic determination of the regions of interest for the reference phantom
  • Calculation of bone mineral content in mg/ml of calcium hydroxyapatite
  • Graphics presentation of measurement results as compared to reference data.
