Dr. Ralf P. Thomas

After studying economics and business administration and earning a doctorate in 1994 with a dissertation in the field of income tax accounting, Ralf Thomas joined Siemens AG in 1995. Since then, he has held positions as Head of the Accounting, Controlling and Treasury Department at Siemens in South Africa; Performance Controller at Siemens Medical Solutions; CFO of Siemens Angiography, Fluoroscopic and Radiographic Systems; Head of the Corporate Finance, Accounting, Controlling, Reporting & Taxes Department at Siemens AG; and CFO of the former Industry Sector at Siemens AG. In 2018, he was appointed Honorary Professor for Economics and Business Administration at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).

Ralf Thomas is also Chairman of the Stock Exchange Committee of Experts (Börsensachverständigenkommission), which advises Germany’s Federal Ministry of Finance. In addition, he is Treasurer of the Max Planck Society (MPG) and a member of its Executive Committee and was Chairman of the Accounting Standards Committee of Germany (ASCG). He was born in Nürnberg, Germany, in 1961.
