[**] The Stellar detector
The Stellar detector is Siemens Healthineers’ first fully integrated detector. Conventional detector modules rely on a signal processing board where the photodiode is arranged separately to the analog-to-digital converters. This causes electronic noise because the signal has a relatively long way to travel between the diode and the converters. In the Stellar detector, the board has been simplified and the converters are arranged directly underneath the photodiode. This full integration reduces electronic noise because the analog signal from the photodiode is directly converted into a robust digital signal, which significantly improves the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and thus optimizes dose efficiency and image quality.
