SOMATOM Definition Flash, MAGNETOM Skyra and MAGNETOM Aera earn top honors in annual survey

Siemens Healthcare announced today that the research firm KLAS has named three Siemens products the recipient of its 2012 “Best in KLAS” Award in the respective categories: SOMATOM Definition Flash in the 64-slice and greater computed tomography category, MAGNETOM Skyra in the 3 Tesla (T) magnetic resonance (MR) category, and the MAGNETOM Aera in the 1.5 T MR category. The annual award is given to a vendor or product that scores the highest in its industry segment and provides the broadest operational and clinical impact to healthcare organizations.

KLAS rankings are based on a series of surveys conducted with hospital and clinic executives, administrators, physicians, nurses, and other directors and managers with business responsibilities. Respondents are queried regarding their experiences with their vendors and products.

“Best in KLAS recognition is awarded to healthcare vendors who have consistently excelled in their market segment(s) and indicates leadership in working with customers to resolve issues and match needs to delivered solutions,” said Adam Gale, president of KLAS. “The awards help put the aggregate perceptions and opinions of healthcare executives and clinicians into perspective – especially as their peers consider major investment decisions.”

Siemens systems are at the forefront of imaging innovation. A dual-source CT scanner that features two X-ray tubes and two detectors, The SOMATOM Definition Flash offers a scanning speed of 45 cm/s and a temporal resolution of 75 ms. Boasting the highest clinically available magnet strength, the MAGNETOM Skyra 3T has a large, 70 cm open bore and a short length (173 cm) for comfortable, patient-centric examinations that are powerful and fast. The MAGNETOM Area 1.5 T has an ultrashort open bore and integrates Siemens’ Dot (day optimizing throughput) engine and its Tim (total imaging matrix) 4G technology to provide the power needed for excellent image quality while helping to remove the time-draining complexity inherent in MR scanning.
