Global Director of Clinical Education, Siemens Healthineers.

|01/27/2021

Summary:

SARS-CoV-2 is proven to be a highly transmissible virus that has infected millions in the US. With the recent distribution of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, learn about antibody persistence and its relevance to immunity with the vaccination response.

This webinar will provide an overview on SARS-CoV-2, including viral structure, route(s) of transmission, immune response, vaccines, and highly-circulating emergent variants. The clinical value of serology will be reviewed, including current guidance on the use of antibody testing as well as evolving applications. Distinctions in available serology assays specific to viral targets (nucleocapsid vs. spike-based assays) will be discussed relative to both natural infection and vaccination.

Speaking on these findings, Katherine Soreng, Ph.D. Global Director of Clinical Education at Siemens Healthineers, will help you:

  • Describe the structure of SARS-CoV-2, routes of transmission, and genetic variants
  • Understand the immune response to infection, and the importance of neutralizing antibodies
  • Understand the role of serology testing both in natural infection and following vaccination

Speaker:
