Siemens Healthineers Llanberis believes that investment in people is key to the future of our business. As part of the Siemens Healthineers Corporate Social Responsibility programme, HR Specialist Vicky Bushell has recently held several mock interviews with Year 10 & 11 students at a local school. Brynrefail is a bilingual secondary school for pupils aged 11–18, situated in Llanrug, Gwynedd, North Wales. The purpose of the exercise was to prepare students who have an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) careers.
Vicky commented, “Being involved in a mock interview is very helpful in preparing the students to land that dream job. A mock or practice interview helps them learn how to answer difficult questions, develop interview strategies, improve their communication skills and reduce their stress before an actual job interview.” As part of the process, Vicky also reviewed the quality of their CV’s. She added “It was a pleasure to work with the students at Ysgol Brynrefail as I firmly believe that these practice sessions help prepare them for the world of work. In addition, we at Siemens Healthineers may benefit in the future as some of these students may support our recruitment needs and possible workforce!”
Sian Harris, Careers and Work Experience Co-ordinator at Ysgol Brynrefail said “The science students involved definitely saw the benefits of these practice interviews. Vicky used the STAR approach (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for interview and gave them all feedback at the end of the sessions on what they did well and areas for development. We very much appreciate that a company such as Siemens are willing to release their professional staff to dedicate time and resource in investing in these students.”
Siemens Healthineers Llanberis plans to continue with the initiative into 2021.
