Students at UWE Bristol to benefit from CT system and online education platform

The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), has invested in on-campus computerised tomography (CT) imaging facilities, including a SOMATOM go.Up CT system, which will see students benefit from modern technology that is primed for diagnostic and radiotherapy practice.

The new CT Scanner Suite is the first fully functional clinical setting of its kind in a UK university and is set to distinguish UWE Bristol from many of its competitiors. The recent investment in precise imaging equipment bolsters the university’s academic offering, defining itself as a key educational establishment for consideration by radiographers and radiotherapists of the future.

The addition of the SOMATOM go.Up CT system at UWE Bristol adds value to its clinical education offerings – providing imaging equipment found in hospitals across the United Kingdom. The SOMATOM go.Up uses the most recent operating platform from Siemens Healthineers, preparing students for use of similar systems both today and into the future. Alongside the new system, UWE Bristol has invested in the PEPconnect online education platform from Siemens Healthineers – offering e-learnings, webinars, videos and virtual classrooms.

“The SOMATOM go.Up CT system from Siemens Healthineers is an exciting addition to the facilities available to students at UWE Bristol’s Glenside campus. Having access to advanced clinical equipment is vital to our Health and Social Care, Science, Applied Sciences and Engineering programmes across the University,’’states Dr Marc Griffiths, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean, Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences at UWE Bristol.
