Siemens Healthcare in the UK

Our innovations combine state-of-the-art laboratory diagnostics, imaging technologies and IT solutions to pinpoint disease early on, enhance diagnostic precision and optimize patient care.

Imaging and Therapy Systems

Modern medicine is inconceivable today without innovative imaging techniques: They enable early and detailed diagnosis of illnesses and can confirm or deny the presence of suspected disease. Imaging systems are now increasingly also being used in therapy. Modern imaging enables forms of therapy which are more gentle on patients and reduce costs. At the same time, they open up treatment options for patients who until now had to live without the prospect of recovery. For example, open surgical procedures can be replaced by minimally invasive surgery. The outcomes of operations can be directly controlled while surgery is still being performed. New types of cancer therapy allow for treatment approaches which are both mild and effective. Powerful software solutions from Imaging & Therapy Systems support the diagnosis and therapy.

Clinical Products

In many cases, X-ray and Ultrasound mark the beginning of a patient’s care. To determine what kind of therapy the patient needs, medical providers need fast, effective imaging - the kind that can enable clinically confident diagnoses. Thus, it is the goal of the Siemens Clinical Products Division to provide physicians and radiologists with ultrasound and X-ray imaging to obtain better insights and allow safer diagnoses in a shorter time.

Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics is a global leader in in vitro diagnostics, providing healthcare professionals in hospital, reference, and physician office laboratories and point-of-care settings with the vital information required to accurately diagnose, treat, and monitor patients.

Siemens Molecular Imaging

Siemens Molecular Imaging is a pioneer in all aspects of molecular imaging, from PET and SPECT scanner development to clinical applications, from radiopharmaceutical discovery and distribution to preclinical imaging.

The team in Oxfordshire is responsible for development of software products and solutions for the clinical applications of PET∙CT, SPECT, SPECT∙CT and MR∙PET scanners that enable clinicians to visualize and quantify the biology of diseases such as cancer, heart disease and dementia.

Siemens MR Magnet Technology

Siemens MR Magnet Technology is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of superconducting magnetic resonance imaging magnets for medical applications.

Around 95 per cent of the magnets produced at its Oxfordshire facility are exported and the business has been awarded several Queen’s Awards for export success.

More than 30 per cent of the MRI scanners installed in hospitals worldwide have at their heart a superconducting magnet manufactured by Siemens MR Magnet Technology.
