HbA1c vs Blood Glucose Testing Understanding the difference and clinical applications
About

This webinar is intended for healthcare professionals only, and not for the general public.
In collaboration with the Chapter of Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Medicine, College of Pathologists, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, three experts explored HbA1c vs blood glucose testing in Pathology, Family Medicine, and Nephrology.
Date: 29 March 2022, Tuesday
Time: 9.30 am – 11.30 am Malaysia time (GMT +8)
Platform: Microsoft Teams
Even though we’ve been measuring glucose in blood for 100 years, the question that comes up is: "How accurate is a glucose result?” Not only is there the usual preanalytical and analytical variation, but there is also large biological variability. HbA1c is not a perfect alternative, but since 1993, the NGSP Haemoglobin A1c standardization has significantly improved the measure. Of course, there are deficiencies in haemoglobin A1c. However, haemoglobin A1c can be measured accurately in the vast majority of subjects with haemoglobin variants. There has been a huge improvement in the assay. The webinar is about understanding the difference between glucose and HbA1c and the clinical application of these laboratory tests.
