Cinematic Rendering - Photo-realistic 3D visualization of CT and MR images, combined with Microsoft HoloLens2, blends mixed reality holograms with the real medical world.

“The innovative Cinematic Rendering solution paired with HoloLens 2 creates transformative experiences across the medical field and shows the true power of mixed reality to improve collaboration and communication.” Alex Kipman
Technical Fellow, AI and Mixed Reality, Microsoft.

Benefits of Cinematic Reality:

  • Enhance the education and training of medical staff
  • Improve patient communication through easy-to-grasp clinical images

Benefits of HoloLens 2:

  • Display Interactive 3D holograms in users immediate environment.
  • Merges real world with the virtual

Combining cVRT and HoloLens 2 allows users to interact with gestures, speech and eye gaze to manipulate the images in real time:

  • Zoom
  • Rotate

Make communication with referrers and patients clear and convincing. With the new Cinematic VRT in syngo.via, you can make your case look like something from an anatomy textbook. For education, publication and communication, cVRT means that it is now time to showcase your cases.

Cinematic Rendering for Surgery
Cinematic Rendering was tested as a prototype in an evaluation study at the Department of Surgery at the University Hospital Erlangen, Germany. The group compared the ability of surgeons to chose the best operating strategy by clearly presenting the relative position of tumor tissue and blood vessels prior to operating.

The researchers found that cinematic rendered CT images allowed clinicians to understand patient anatomy more quickly and with a greater degree of accuracy than conventional CT. It enabled the surgeons to complete the task with higher accuracy in roughly half the amount of time and suggest the technique also benefit surgical planning and decision-making.
